The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a progressive leadership training program, designed to provide an educational and fun environment where participants can develop their leadership skills. At the end of the LDP, participants will take with them personal confidence, group facilitation skills, program planning and implementation knowledge, life-long friendships and much more.
This year, our Leadership Development Program will be experienced in 2 week sessions. At the begnning of the two week session, LDP's will meet with their mentor and set weekly goals. At the end of each session, all particpants will be invited to a LDP exclusive field trip that promotes working as a team, healthy communication and problem solving.
LDP provides an innovative curriculum intended to promote the Y's values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility and to challenge the participants to be positive role models, members of society, leaders in their communities, potential future camp staff members.
This program is for youth entering grades 7th- 9th. The LIT program focuses on personal development, goal setting and learning to work as a member of a group. LIT's will be intergrated into youth day camp, learning about topics such as time-fillers, on-the spot games, lesson planning, giving directions, and speaking to groups. The program encourages youth develop as a special area of interest and goals, seeking to master a YMCA Camp program at a high level of skill or complete a detailed project. All interested youth will be interviewed and must provide two references from a teacher, counselor or other mentor. The program is a challenging adventure in leadership and personal growth.
The CIT program is designed for youth entering grades 10th -12th grades. CITs develop strong leadership skills through training, discussion, observation, and practice at our summer day camps. Paricipants will be challenged to set and meet goals throughout the program, practice good work ethics, and be a postive mentor to all participants. Each CIT will have the opportunity to facilitate an activity for younger campers. Youth exiting this program will be prepared to become a summer camp counsleor in our day camps! All Youth interested will be interviewed and must provide two references from a teacher, counselor or other mentor.
All Leadership Development Participants are invited to our Summer Camp Training Retreat, tentativley on Saturday June 3rd. All registrants will recieve an email invite from the Y. For more information, please contact Alicia at aseibel@sloymca.org.

Sesion 2: June 26 - July 7 (All camps will be closed on July 4th).
Session 3: July 10-21
Session 4: July 24-Aug 4
Session 5: Aug 7-11 (1 week only - last week of camp for most locations).
Session 6: Aug 14-17 (Baywood, Paso, & SLO Facility Only)
